The Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Be A… Multi-Part Series?
People are in high energy for the FF VII Remake Following the gameplay trailer shown at the Playstation Experience. We got some much needed gameplay footage and the game looks amazing. But have you ever stopped to wonder how they will fit that gigantic game into one disc? I never have, but the more I think about it, the more it kind of worries me. Final Fantasy VII wasn’t a small game and to redo everything and update it with modern graphics would probably inflate the size of it tremendously.
The repercussions of that are showing their face now with the news from Square Enix that the “Final Fantasy VII Remake will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.” Many are saying that this is compared to an episodic release like Telltale does.

The specifics of this “multi-part series” are unknown at this time, but Wall Street Journal Journalist Takashi Mochizuki got a bit of an inside scope into this whole ordeal and made the following tweet:
and SquareEnix says FF7 Remake's data size so huge; the software will be split into several titles (for example, FF7-Remake 1, FF7-Remake 2)

So, going off pure speculation here, the game is so massive that they had no choice but to break it up into fragments and release it that way. Let’s face facts here, a game as massive as FF VII on new generation hardware with new generation graphics would take its toll on the system and simple space restrictions can also come into play. While the knee-jerk reaction is “what the fuck, seriously, they’re just trying to get more money out of us probably”, we should wait for more information before we jump the gun here. Also consider that if this game is split into parts, these parts will be absolutely gigantic otherwise they will have to split it into a ridiculous amount of episodes.
