EGMR Awards 2015: The 5 Most Anticipated Games Of 2016
This award is given to the five titles that have gained the most interest from us this year, and ultimately are our five most anticipated games for the year 2016, because as gamers we’re always looking ahead to what we can play next. If we were drunk we’d probably list every game, but since it makes it tougher to pick just five and five seems like an important number, we’ll stick to this method. So without further delay, check out our five most anticipated games for 2016.
Note: The order is in no way depicting the level of anticipation, but rather arranged in a complex and completely random manner that we do not understand ourselves.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
The Deus Ex series holds a special place in our hearts, even if we don’t speak about Invisible War. The series combines expertly crafted gameplay with an incredible story to create one of the best franchises ever made. When 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution hit it absolutely blew us away, but it did have some obvious flaws. Developers Eidos are looking to fix all that in Adam Jensens next adventure to create an incredibly deep gameplay experience. Even if the game has caused quite some controversy this year, we have no doubt that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will deliver something remarkable in the year to come.
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Everything about Horizon: Zero Dawn just looks to be exciting, there’s just something about mecha-dinosaurs and bows that just gets the blood flowing. This is the first new IP to come from Guerrilla Games since they started working on the Killzone series in 2004. Horizon looks very different from what we’ve come to expect from them, ditching the shooter genre for an action RPG that looks to force players to plan how they approach their quests rather than just kill and collect. Having seen what we have of the game, there’s no reason not to get excited for all the robo-dino hunting that will take place next year.
No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky sits in a bit of a weird space. While people love how massive the game is going to be, there are skeptics who aren’t willing to get caught up in the hype. We understand this skepticism but are willing to throw it to the wind after seeing quite a bit of gameplay footage. The sheer size of this ambitious project is reason enough for us to wait for its eventual release in almost unbearable anticipation.
While Quantum Break has had a bit of a rocky start, it looks like we’ll finally get our hands on Remedy Entertainments next game. Their last game, Alan Wake, is quite an under-appreciated title but it just did so many things right with its story telling and Quantum Break looks to do more of the same. The time bending adventure looks to be a wild ride and a potential must play title for the Xbox One.
How could we possibly be excited for the re-re-release of Uncharted 2? Well for starters Naughty Dog look to be upping their game with the story for Uncharted 4 and going into new territory for the series and creating even more incredible set pieces. It helps that the game is also gorgeous, showing off incredible detail. It’s understandable if people are feeling a little fatigued by the Uncharted series, I mean we’ve only quite recently finished the original trilogy, but it seems Naughty Dog are up to the challenge of improving their beloved series for the current generation.
Those are our five most anticipated titles that we will hopefully be playing in 2016. This is however only the tip of the iceberg as 2016 looks to be a rather interesting year for gaming. Only time will tell how well we receive these game and what else we have to look forward to in an exciting year ahead.
