Steam, PSN And Xbox Live To Hold Special Sales Thanks To The Game Awards
If your wallet hasn’t left you for a frugal hermit yet after all the money you saved by spending a ton on Black Friday then prep yourself for another sale. This time courtesy of a symbol of consumerism rather than the product of aggressive consumerism. I’m talking of course about Geoff ‘Mountain Dewritos’ Keighley.
To be fair, Geoff has done a lot to move on from that low point with The Game Awards being a genuinely interesting approach to an awards show. Last year’s edition was too long, too bloated but ultimately loaded with the sort of quality presentation gaming has somewhat been missing in its awards show. It was very gamer-focused, sometimes to its detriment with a little too much fanservice and way too many ‘world premieres’ or ‘world exclusives’.

This year’s edition promises to be tighter and more focused but with that same enthusiastic energy. There’s also the added bonus of tie-in sales on all the nominees across Steam, PSN and Xbox Live.
This year we are expanding that game awards sale concept across all platforms, both on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network and Steam there will be special discounts on nominees and other games. And during the show you will be able to unlock those special offers and download those games in and around The Game Awards.

That’s pretty brilliant. Get this year’s best games at a discounted price. The sale will start during the awards show on December 3rd it seems and run until Saturday December 5th. Discounts look to be in the region of 20% which isn’t bad at all for newly released games.
