Star Wars Battlefront Gets A Companion App
Aside from the other big game release today, Star Wars Battlefront has received a little something to streamline bits of the game ahead of its launch.
The companion app, which is available on numerous platforms of all shapes and sizes (so basically, Android and iOS phones and tablets, as well as a web app) functions as more than just an external stat-tracker, with tangible in-game benefits to come from it.

These benefits come from a mini-game in the app called Base Command, in which players are effectively playing a tower defense game with card gaming elements.
Players defend their Rebel Alliance base from Galactic Empire troops with a variety of weapons and power-ups, which are represented by Star Cards — a similar system to what is being used in the main game to represent your characters’ special abilities and weaponry. Surviving waves of Imperial forces will earn you credits, which will transfer across from the app to the game and vice versa when Star Wars Battlefront launches next week.
At this stage, the app will be more useful in setting up an advantaged starting point for when the game launches, but it will also function as a stat tracker and class customisation manager, where players will be able to equip weapons and Star Cards, once the game launches.
