Bring Star Wars To Your Chrome Browser With Google “Awaken The Force Within” Promo
You’d think that the world would be ablaze with anticipation and excitement for the seventh Star Wars movie, but it seems that Disney is having a tough time getting the word out that there is a brand new film on the way in just a few weeks. You’d think that a billion dollar movie studio would have some super awesome marketing strategy, but it seems even Star Wars cannot sell itself without a little help. Enter the geeks at Google, who have Jedi’ed the Google Chrome to give a helping hand to poor Disney Studios by literally Forcing(with your consent of course) some digital Star Wars paraphernalia.
To get the Star Wars treatment go to https://www.google.com/starwars/ where you’ll have to choose between the light or dark sides of the force–and then find all things Star Wars invading your chrome browser as your given a flurry of themed easter eggs. For instance, Chrome tabs will show you pictures from the Star Wars universe depending on which side you chose. The Street View marker gets re-skinned into either a Storm Trooper or a Rebel Alliance pilot, while YouTube gets a lightsaber-coloured playback bar depending on the side you chose. I could not get this extension to work on YouTube though, so that makes me a sad Stormtrooper.
Which side did you pick?
