Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Joins The Smash Bros. Lineup
One of the big announcements of E3 was the Final Fantasy VII remake, and one of Nintendo’s biggest games over the last couple of years has been the newest Super Smash Bros. game. Normally these two statements would have absolutely no relation whatsoever — but today they do.
At the Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo showed a new Super Smash Bros. trailer which shows off cloud in a new trailer for the ever-popular brawler.

While the opening sting will have been a dead giveaway for Final Fantasy VII fans, it’s still incredibly uncommon to see cross-pollination in this sense across rival game series, but especially rival platforms.
However, Cloud’s appearance in Super Smash Bros. represents a great bit advertising for Square Enix, whose Final Fantasy VII remake is an upcoming highlight of the near gaming future.
Super Smash Bros. is available on both Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, as Cloud will be when he is added into the game.
