Black Friday PC Tech Sites To Watch For
By far the best thing that’s come out of America is not medicine, modern democracy or technological progress (who needs that, right?) but the most hedonistic day for the whole year which celebrates conspicuous consumption to the highest degree : Black Friday. Basically when tonight strikes 12am I’ll be sitting at my PC furiously going through the local tech sites to catch a good deal on some PC parts. The geeky side of Black Friday is CyberMonday, basically the first Monday after Thanksgiving in which all things tech go on massive sale, but since the market is so small in SA, our retailers are just doing it Black Friday style. I’d rather stay up till 12AM on a Thursday evening that 12AM on a Sunday evening, so no complaints there.
It’s funny: thanks to the wonderful world full of Time Zones, we’ll technically be having Black Friday before America does…we’re doing America better than America!
Since the tech space is so small in South Africa, we just hop on the Black Friday sale and many tech sites and retailers are gearing up to offer some specials. This is just a quick list of sites to follow who are going to promote some good old American exceptionalism with some discounted tech deals. Some of the sites have the option to sign up to their newsletter in which case you’ll get some early access to information about what deals will go live when the digital clock strikes 12AM. Best be ready with your mouse clicks since stock will dry up faster than a lucrative government tender on our Presidents homestead
RebelTech: No newsletter signup–just be on their site at 12AM 27th November- Some sneaky preview pricing courtesy of Carbonite: Acer 24″ 144Hz monitor for R3656.00 and the MSI Z170A XPower Titanium for R4579–this is pretty insane. The regular retail price for that motherboard is ~R5600-6000, and around R4500 on the Acer, so not bad at all!
Wootware: They have a newsletter signup for some sneak previews a few hours before midnight 27th November
Dion Wired: Not exactly the best place to get some GPUs or motherboards, but they are claiming a 50% discounts, with an extra 5% PayU reward. Might find some interesting tech there
Evetech: Nothing specific, their sale ends at 12AM Sunday night.
Incredible Connection: Up to 50% off–seems like a credit card deal since EFT or click and collect does not apply.
Raru: Seems like they are only starting tomorrow morning
Any deals you’re specifically trying to snatch–I’m looking for a shiny new GPU since my aging 7950 needs to visit the farm. I’m also quite aware that the recent beating the ZAR is taking puts enormous pressure on local retailers trying to offer good pricing, so here’s hoping something special happens.
