Are You Ready For 8 Hours Of Comic Book Madness?
We’ve been trying to introduce more comic-related things here at EGMR with multiple, riveting stories and in-depth looks at the universes we so love as to make you either come to love comics as we do or share in our love of it. As a newbie comic book reader myself, I’ve been trying to show some of you why it’s actually a good way to spend your time and that there’s no real downside to at least trying. One of the ways I’ve tried to help is by showing you where to get your hands on anything comic book related, and it’s really not a little known fact that I’m quite a big fan of a place called Smallville comics, seeing as I’ve written about them in the past. But I’m here again to tell you of a nice little event these guys have coming up.
It’s called The 8 Hours of Madness.
What that essentially means is that for one whole day there will be ridiculously big discounts on pretty much everything in the store. The discounts obviously vary with each item, but a discount is still a discount and no-one minds saving some money. I, myself, have been eyeing this lovely Arkham City Riddler ever since I remembered to actually look up in their store, so I’m going to fight for that one. But I’m not lying when I say that place is packed to the roof with pretty cool things. And that’s why they need your help.

They’ve yet to move into their potentially kick-ass new store, as there are renovations going on there at the moment, so they’re still stuck in their current store. This store, if you’ve never been, is not what you’d call the biggest so it can only hold a certain amount of comics and figures, but here’s where you come in! In order for them to get even cooler things for us to drool over they need space, and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t mind a new Harley Quinn AF on your shelf, so it’s pretty much a win-win situation.
If my feeble attempts at trying to get you interested has somewhat failed, just take a look at this. It might do what I could not.
Pretty sweet deals, am I right?
However, just so that you know, although the flyer says the store opens at 9 AM on that Saturday, people will most probably be standing in the queue from around 3 AM to make sure they get all the cool stuff. That might sound excessive to some, but it sounds about right for any comic/statue collectors. There will most probably even be another auction for a special entry ticket that gets you in 10 minutes before the rest. Becuase who wants to stand in a line for 4 hours when you can pay R3000 to skip it?
So juts make sure you’re ready for that queue if you pitch up at 8:30 AM.
I took the liberty to create a very quick album of things they stock currently just to give you an indication of what types of things they will have in the store (not necessarily on the day). If you’d like to see more, just go over to the Smallville Comics Alberton Facebook group and join to receive regular updates to what they’re getting in or what’s on special.
There’s about a month left before this event, maybe start saving all the money you can before then. That’s what I’m going to try and do. Something tells me I’m going to have to resort to extreme measures to make sure I get that Riddler. Meh, it’s totally worth it.
