Games With Gold Is Slightly Better This Month
Games with Gold has been coming second in a two horse race ever since it’s announcement last year, with Sony continuously showing up one (or more) better than Microsoft. That doesn’t really change for the month of April, but it is good to see Games with Gold taking a notable step forward with the two games on offer this month.
During April both Hitman: Absolution and Deadlight will go free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers, allowing you to download them and keep them forever regardless of you subscription status.

Hitman will be the first to go free, with the game being ready and available to download today on Xbox Live. Absolution was a particularly good entry into the long running Hitman franchise, and we liked it quite a bit. If you haven’t yet had the chance to pick it up, or you’ve been looking for an excuse to try out the Hitman franchise, then this is your best bet. Considering you missed it when it was free on PS Plus a few months back.
Deadlight will go free on April 16th, replacing Hitman. The stylish zombie platformer with an emphasis on exploration released in 2012 to fairly good reviews, and stands as one of the Xbox Live Arcades title that Xbox 360 users should play. Personally I haven’t give it a go yet, despite its launch on PC as well, but this seems like a better time than any to give it the five minutes of my time.
Again, Games with Gold hasn’t yet managed to outshine Ps Plus, but this certainly is a marked improvement over previous months. Hopefully now with Xbox’s new head, Phil Spencer, we’ll see the service transform into something it should have been from the start.
