A Duke Nukem Game…Without Duke Nukem?
Back in February developers Interceptor Entertainment launched a Duke Nukem easer site, named alloutofgum.com, which ticked down to a reveal of something on the 25th of the same month. We never got to see that reveal, because soon after the developer and 3D Realms became entangled in a legal battle over the name with Gearbox Software.
That court battle is still on going, with 3D Realms saying they never sold the entire trademark to Gearbox. In the meantime though, Interceptor has launched a new Duke Nukem teaser site, called nogumneeded.com.

Want to take a guess what that little change means? Well according to Interceptor, they never said their “Duke Nukem” game had anything to do with the actual Duke Nukem character.
“We have never officially announced anything in relation to Duke.”
The thing is, Interceptor Entertainment CEO Frederik Schreiber didn’t distance himself from Duke at all afterwards, saying that the legal battle currently prohibiting them from making a Duke title (according to Gearbox) won’t stop them.
“We still have clear legal rights to develop a Duke title, and we are going to fight for those rights.”
Just notice how the word Duke here is used without actually ever mentioning the character himself. Is this some loophole Interceptor has uncovered, allowing them to use a different character within the same world as Duke Nukem?
How would that work anyway? Isn’t the only reason that these game are at least remembered from back in the day because of Duke himself, who is an aged and completely prehistoric joke anyway?
Guys, let Duke just rest already. Please.
