Death In Candlewood Is An Open World Survival-horror “BioShock”
Death In Candlewood is an open world survival-horror FPS that is currently seeking crowdfunding via Kickstarter. Rosebud Games consists of a team of developers who have worked on such games as Silent Hill: Origins, F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, The Witcher and even BioShock. When hearing this, one immediately takes interest in Death In Candlewood as there is definitely a strong creative force behind the game.
The game is set in the 1940s and is heavily influenced by the gothic fiction of Edgar Allan Poe, as well as the lineage of classic horror films (like Dracula and Frankenstein). Rosebud Games defines the project as such:
- You’ll Be Able To Play (Expensive) PS2 Games On Your PS4 Now | 2 months ago
- Jessica Jones Disempowers Its Male Characters And The Effect Is Refreshing | 2 months ago
- Hell Is 30 000 Deathclaws Tearing Through Boston And It’s Glorious | 2 months ago
- Sony Santa Monica Is Teasing Something Truly Strange | 2 months ago
A love story between the living and the dead, the game plunges its player into the darkest corners of 1940s America.
In Death In Candlewood, you will play as Ray Dune making your way through one single night in his life. Dune is a doctor who has a relationship with a psychiatrist Lester Caravan, and as a result of extenuating circumstances failed to save Caravan’s wife from death. This leads Caravan down a path of insanity where he performs experiments reanimating corpses, creating inhuman creatures in the process. On top of this, Dune’s adopted son Rizzo has also vanished, and it is now your mission to make your way through the town of Candlewood, encountering inhuman creatures in the hopes of saving Rizzo.
The game is mostly played in a first-person perspective and Rosebud Games say that the game will not be a traditional FPS. The game world will be huge with over 1,000 navigable buildings and 6km² of mountain range to explore. You’ll be able to explore this landscape with cars, motorbikes and whatever form of transport you so choose. Uncommon weapons and uncommon enemies will be in abundance as you make your way through this dark game.
