This Year’s Other Assassin’s Creed Could Make You The Bad Guy
Last week Ubisoft’s hand was forced after some screenshots of Assassin’s Creed: Unity leaked online. The publisher officially announced the game a few days later, and as expected Unity will only be coming to next-generation consoles and PC. The rumour, however, is that a second game will be releasing on PS3 and Xbox 360.
That game, apparently named Comet, could have nearly nothing to do with Unity and a lot more in common with Black Flag, if new sources are to be believed.

According to sources close to Kotaku, Assassin’s Creed Comet will feature a major shift in design, putting players in control of a Templar rather than an Assassin. The game will also take place several years before Unity, namely before the events of Assassin’s Creed III. Gameplay will include a lot of sailing as it did n Black Flag, and the report mentions that the game could be seen as a mix between Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed III, being set in North America and all.
Players will also meet up with Haytham Kenway, son of Edward Kenway, and Edward’s now Assassin first mate Adewale. It seems like the narrative that Comet features could bridge the gap between Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed III, possibly showing us how the son of an Assassin eventually turned to the Templar Order.
As expected, Ubisoft declined to comment on the rumour, but considering Kotaku was spot on with Unity, I wouldn’t call this a long shot. It does sound interesting enough to warrant a look, but I still question how Ubisoft is going to market this. Especially if both Unity and Comet will contribute to the greater narrative they have going on.
Stay tuned, we’ll probably get some form of confirmation soon.
