Take A Mystical Stroll With Spirit
Spirit is an indie game project on Kickstarter by Holden Boyles, and Ciprian Stanciu, which has currently exceeded its modest budget of $4000. The game has a unique art style quite similar to the visual aesthetic of Proteus, but from there the game differs substantially in regards to its core mechanics. The basic premise of the game is to uncover the long forgotten past of an ancient temple, through exploration.
This is how the Kickstarter page defines Spirit:
- You’ll Be Able To Play (Expensive) PS2 Games On Your PS4 Now | 2 months ago
- Jessica Jones Disempowers Its Male Characters And The Effect Is Refreshing | 2 months ago
- Hell Is 30 000 Deathclaws Tearing Through Boston And It’s Glorious | 2 months ago
- Sony Santa Monica Is Teasing Something Truly Strange | 2 months ago
Spirit is a game intended to bring out the imagination and desire for exploration in everyone.
In a remote mountain village, you have retired and built your dream home in order to live out your golden years in peace. Rumors of a mysterious temple beyond the valley have inspired you to set out and explore its ancient halls and crumbling ruins. Once you arrive, it becomes clear that deep within the temple walls, there is something magical that awaits you beyond this world.
As mentioned above, the visual style is very minimal, with mountainous scenery throughout the game’s world. Character designs are basic and it is quite clear that exploring the game’s world is the sole purpose of the game. If you play the demo, by checking out the Kickstarter page, you will see that Spirit is very much an old school RPG where talking to NPCs makes up a great deal of the gameplay. It really is all about solving the mystery of the temple.
There are also plans to include puzzles and eventually a telepathy ability to use when interacting with characters, which sounds very intriguing. The game has planned releases for PC, Mac and mobile devices. Check out Spirit’s Kickstarter page for more information.
