The Phantom Pain Could Be Just Under A Year Away

Today, America gets their hands on the latest instalment in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Ground Zeroes. Is it a glorified demo or an actual game? We don’t know, because there are still no reviews up. We do, however, have a better indication as to when we might get The Phantom Pain.
A message from publisher Konami, which was sent to one Reddit user in response to his pre-order of Ground Zeroes, suggests that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain could release in “early 2015”.

It’s a bit confusing, because Hideo Kojima himself stated that fans shouldn’t get too excited about The Phantom Pain just yet, since the project was far from completion. In typical Kojima fashion, the series creator even went as far as saying that it could never be finished, with the scale of the project apparently being “200 time that of Ground Zeroes”.
It’s something that annoyed me as a journalist when dealing with anything Kojima says. The man can never really give a straight or at least mildly truthful statement, always leading to the world second guessing itself about what is actually happening.
So could The Phantom Pain release in under a year? Possibly. Maybe. Probably. Who the hell knows really? We don’t, but we’ll be keeping our eye on this.
Will you be picking up Ground Zeroes later this week in the meantime?
