Insanity Jam Brings New Meaning To A Random Game Jam
A really cool game jam is around the corner called Insanity Jam 2014, starting from April 1st to April 4th, with the acceptance of late submissions until April 8th. Insanity Jam itself is a relaxed, experimental game jam where the choice of theme is decided by orteil42’s, the developer behind Cookie Clicker, random game idea generator. The jam aims to be inclusive of developers of all different skill sets from across the globe.
This is what the event planners had to say:
- You’ll Be Able To Play (Expensive) PS2 Games On Your PS4 Now | 2 months ago
- Jessica Jones Disempowers Its Male Characters And The Effect Is Refreshing | 2 months ago
- Hell Is 30 000 Deathclaws Tearing Through Boston And It’s Glorious | 2 months ago
- Sony Santa Monica Is Teasing Something Truly Strange | 2 months ago
Our goal with the Insanity Jam is to inspire people to think outside the box and create games that are truly bizarre and wonderful. After all, isn’t that the true beauty of indie?
The game jam appears to be an one off deal for the purposes of fun. It is only planned for this year, in other words. However, this does not mean there may not be another somewhere down the line. If enough support is shown the Insanity Jam could become a recurring game jam. In order to sign up for the game jam, you just have to follow this link, create an account on their forums where you can post your ideas and begin your journey.
The Insanity Jam does require you to work alone, as per the Ludum Dare model. But you can make use of any available public libraries, middleware, content creation software and engines. If you are an aspiring developer wanting to step out of your comfort zone, this may be right up your alley.
