God Of War Creative Director Leaves Sony Santa Monica
Some say he paints concept art using sheep’s blood and that he only knows two facts Greek mythology but they are both wrong, all we know is that he’s called The Stig… and that he’s no longer employed by Sony Santa Monica.
Stig Asmussen joined Sony Santa Monica in 2003, back when it was just Santa Monica Studios, and is best know for his stellar work on the God of war franchise. You may recognise him from developer diaries.

He first worked as an environment artist (God of War), then as Art Director (God of War II), and finally as Creative Director (God of War III). He was not involved with God of War: Ascension but was reportedly working on something else entirely. Something that may have been the rumoured sci-fi title that got canned in the wake of Sony Santa Monica’s layoffs.
It’s unclear what Asmussen’s reasons were for leaving. Whether he left for personal reasons or as a direct result of the layoffs remains to be seen but he is certainly a talented individual that was a key part of making God of War III the spectacle that it was.
