Devil’s Third Is Still Alive, New Announcement Imminent
Do you remember Devil’s Third? Do you even know what Devil’s Third is? Probably not because we’ve scarcely heard more than whispers of the game since it debuted in 2010. It can best be described as a hyperviolent hack ‘n slash/ third-person shooter from the creator of Ninja Gaiden, Tomonobu Itagaki, and was supposed to have a trident narrative with three protagonists.
Ever since THQ went down, hopes of the game still being afloat had practically faded.

Former THQ head of core games Danny Bilson told VG24/7 that he’s “very close to Itagaki” and Valhalla Games Studio, which Itagaki formed after leaving Team Ninja in 2008, and that news regarding the game would be coming soon.
“I can’t say very much because I believe there’s an upcoming announcement beyond what he said in January that’s pretty specific and very, very exciting,” Bilson said. “Even though I’m not working for any of these guys I have to respect all the confidentialities. There’s an update coming for sure.”
Itagaki said at the start of this year that after four years Devil’s Third would finally release in 2014. What state the game is in remains to be seen but a tumultuous development cycled halted by budget issues and an expensive game engine will no doubt have had some impact on the final product. We have really seen nothing of the game so let’s hope it impresses when (and if) we see more of it soon.
