Batman Arkham Animated Film Being Planned By DC
Batman has enjoyed a couple of great animated films over the past few years, more if you include some of the Justice League movies although they’re not quite of the same quality. The Batman Arkham games have enjoyed such huge success and popularity that DC is planning an animated film, due for release later this year, based on them.

The games’ narratives seemed pulled straight from an issue of Batman. The decent ones, not the psychedelic Golden Age ones nor the exquisite Scott Snyder ones but something in between. Hell, they were written by Paul Dini who was a big part of making Batman: The Animated Series a huge success. Arkham Origins was written by Assassin’s Creed vet Corey May but we’ll ignore that one for now.
The news comes by way of Heat Vision, which is reporting on a number of upcoming DC animated films. Starting with today’s release of Justice League: War, DC is moving one branch of its animated films to a shared continuity. An upcoming Son of Batman film will feature the same Bruce Wayne as in the new Justice League film.
In addition to this, DC will release one out of continuity animated film each year. 2014 sees an adaptation of the so-called Arkham-verse. 2015 might see a proper telling of the story from Injustice which certainly has plenty of promise but was handled poorly.
The question is, which game should they take inspiration from? My money is on Arkham Asylum but as long as we get Troy Baker and Roger Craig Smith reprising their new roles as Joker and Batman respectively, I’m quite happy.
