Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark Is Merging Universes
I’ve never been one for Transformers games. Hell I barely enjoyed the films, and honestly I don’t really see why the franchise has the mass appeal that it does. That said, Transformers is a massive franchise, and one that just got a new game announced for it.
Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is a new third-person shooter that will now merge the universes created by previous Transformer titles with Michael Baysplosion’s new film, Age of Extinction. Yes, that means you’ll probably get to play as Dinobots.

The game will once again allow you to choose between the Autobots and Decepticons as you fight through the campaign, similar to the way War for Cybertron handled things. It’s unclear yet how this all fits into the upcoming film, but one Transformer that has already been revealed in the crossover is Grimlock, the mechanic T-Rex with lasers coming out his mouth. Is it just me, or did everyone else just feel the 1990’s there?
Unlike previous Transformer games, Rise of the Dark Spark will not be developed by High moon Studios. Instead, Edge of Reality will take over, who are most famous for releasing the free-to-play multiplayer shooter Loadout just a few weeks ago.
You can check out the reveal trailer above, which a shoddy job of making this game look different to all the other titles before it. Regardless, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will release on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii U and 3Ds sometime this year. Poor PlayStation Vita.
