Latest Xbox One Update Results In Black Screen For Some
Remember back in the day when an update fixed things instead of breaking them? Those were good times.
The latest system update for the Xbox One adds some useful features such as storage management and a battery indicator. How was there no battery indicator before? Then again, I’m still waiting for the ability to pause PS4 downloads.

Anyway, it’s a useful update but it’s been giving a few users problems. It’s a small issue but is widespread enough to have warranted a few Xbox forum threads. The unlucky users were presented with a black screen upon turning their console back on.
Fortunately, there is an easy fix.
“If it happens, please power cycle by holding power for 10 seconds,” advises the Xbox support Twitter account.
Hopefully affected users won’t have to resort to doing this for too long; as Microsoft are currently working on a long-term solution.
“We are aware of the issue and are working on a resolution,” Microsoft says in a statement to Kotaku. “This does not appear to be widespread, but can be addressed by the player by holding the Xbox One power button on the console for 10 seconds to restart.”
The problem here is not the issue itself but the fact that it is happening. Maybe I’m being too harsh but Microsoft shouldn’t have released an update that has the potential to cause this kind of issue.
