No Girls Allowed In Deep Down
A good number of RPGs offer plenty of flexibility in your character including their gender. Others, such as The Witcher series have you playing as a fixed character with the RPG elements being everywhere else. These are two different approaches to your usual RPG experience but Deep Down for PS4 is a little bit different.
It’s intended to be an always-online dungeon crawling RPG so you’ll be interacting with other players quite often. It makes sense then that players may want a better virtual representation of themselves. Not all of us are burly men in armour.

According to DualShockers‘ translation of Capcom producer Kazunori Sugiura’s comments during a Nico Nico video, only male characters will be available.
Sugiura stated that this decision was somehow tied to the story but how valid that excuse is remains to be seen.
The story will be divided into four chapters. At launch, there will be only four weapon types available – spear, sword and shield, greatsword and one unrevealed type – but this will be expanded later. Each weapon has very different gameplay. It is then conceivable that female characters might be added later on as well but don’t hold your breath.
This is perhaps not a huge deal but the fact that there are multiple playable characters yet none is female does ring as worrisome.
