Doom 4 Isn’t Dead After All, Beta Coming Soon
There is this insistent desire from fans of the Doom series for creators id Software to create a sequel. A long time ago that sequel was announced as Doom 4, but since then nothing much has been said about the whole thing. With John Carmack leaving the studio he helped create, many feared the project was dead in the water.
That not so, as Doom 4 has now resurfaced again as…well just Doom. News of a beta arrives with the announcement of Wolfenstein: The New Order’s release date, which mentioned a Doom beta for those who pre-order the title.

The New Order will release on Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC come May 20th, but I’m certain more people are interested in the revival of a franchise that basically created the first-person shooter genre. More details about the beta can be found on the game’s official website.
The last time we heard about Doom 4 it was being rebooted, after failing to meet internal expectations. Developers at id Software stated that the project would not meet the desires of fans worldwide, which prompted them to basically hit the reset button and start over. That was nearly a year ago, and we’ve seen nothing since then.
Excited for Doom again? Or are you like me, never having played a single one of them? Sound off in the comments below.
