DayZ Creator Says The Xbox One Has An Ace Up Its Sleeve
Dean Hall is all over the news this week, especially after his shock announcement that he would essentially leave Dayz by the end of the year to pursue other ventures. Until that time, he’s still fully involved with his brainchild, which involves meetings with Microsoft and Sony to talk about a possible console version.
And it was at the former meeting that Dean Hall got the chance to look at the future of the Xbox One, and he says Microsoft has a lot of “exciting things” in store.

Unfortunately, he’s not allowed to talk about them right now, although he doesn’t understand why Microsoft won’t just tell consumers about some of the things they have planned.
“I have nothing against consoles, and there’s some really interesting and exciting things happening. That was one of the cool things about meeting with Microsoft. There were definitely some things they said that I’m not allowed to talk about that I was like, ‘Wow! That’s interesting. Why don’t you tell people that?’ But I guess they want to make sure everything all goes together and that.”
Hall said that Microsoft is definitely taking the “marathon, not a sprint” approach with the Xbox One, and he feels that it will work out for them in the near future. Hall also met with Sony this week to presumably discuss PS3 and PS4 plans for DayZ. Hall stressed that no decision has yet been made regarding a DayZ console version, but he did say that such a title would probably take around a year to develop.
On top of that, Hall said that fans could expect a DayZ beta by the end of the year, with the release coming around in spring next year.
By then, the game could be fundamentally different from what it is today, which will certainly please those currently having issues with the stability of the Alpha. Hall teased that game changing features will make their way into the title throughout the year.
