Which In-Game Gadget Stole Your Heart?
This world is home to innumerable gadgets – there is something for each and every room in one’s house. Be it a toaster that hastily trims your toenails to the eventual gaming console that waters the garden, mows the lawn and scrub each and every piece of cutlery in and outside your house. Gadgets are not a necessity in life much the same way that they are not a definite “must” in any game. Yet we have our in-game gadgets/gimmicks (take your pick) that have the potential to elevate an otherwise possible lackluster game.
A few examples of these “gadgets” are the Energy Leash from Bulletstorm that is more than able to aid you in the skillful evisceration of each and every yelling barbarian individual. Then there’s the Time Manipulation Device from Singularity aiding you to restore and age objects or enemies, because using planks to fix a broken staircase is so last week (that was painful to type). Of course we also have the Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2 that has the player fooling around with objects and the laws of physics in even the most dire of situations. While technically not a gadget, the Plasmids and Vigors from BioShock and BioShock Infinite are useful in dealing with crowds or even just giving you a slight advantage over the raving Splicers or the uniquely conservative Founders. Again, they’re not technically gadgets but they have to do with BioShock so hush.
