See, Even The Xbox One Is Having Its Share Of Hardware Issues
As you’d expect from a major console release, there are bound to be a few bugs in the system. Not to say that these things are acceptable by today’s standards, but rather that it really shouldn’t be surprising at this point. The PS4 is still enduring its Blue Light of Death campaign, and now the Xbox One has its own problem to feel ashamed about.
Namely, the failure of the console’s disc drive, which already has the title of “Disc Drive of Doom.” The Internet is so witty sometimes, don’t you think.

The problems occurs when players attempt to insert a disc of any kind into the console, which is welcomed by a not so welcoming and friendly sound from the Xbox One. Suffice to say, the discs don’t read, leaving you to either stay digital for your entire life or seek a new console. Two guesses as to which option is the right one here.
Thankfully, Microsoft seems to be very helpful in this department, shipping out new consoles to customers without the requirement of the broken one reaching them first. Unlike Sony, this means that getting a new console takes a matter of days rather than weeks, which is sure to sooth the pain of all the angry Xbox One owners.
At this time, Microsoft have stated that the incident is affecting a small number of consumers, but have yet to dish out an exact percentage of units they believe to be affected. That said, Kotaku have received hundreds of reports of the issue, more than the emails received for the Blue Light of Death. These emails also have no way of being verified, so there’s that too.
Let’s just hope that these issues are sorted before the console hits local shores, and just hope and pray that your import console doesn’t crash on you.
