The PS4’s Playroom Is Being Used For Live Sex Shows
One week. It literally took one week for certain members of the human race to figure out how to use the PS4 and it’s Twitch streaming for something not even remotely related to gaming. And now Twitch is panicking just a little bit.
Why? Well because people are using the PS4’s camera application, Playroom, and Twitch to make their own homemade live sex shows. Seriously, this shit is really happening.

In what is probably going to be seen as the biggest oversight in gaming history, Sony has allowed the streaming of Playroom directly to Twitch, not realising that this gives people an uncensored window (for a few minutes) to stream literally anything online. This has opened the floor to some really cool ideas, like a call-in type gaming show, which has, actually gather some decent steam. But, as you’d expect, the service has also attracted some of the scum of the earth.
In one instance, a couple attempted to drink themselves into a stupor while on camera. When that seemed to get boring, the camera was blacked out for a moment, revealing the woman in the scene to be completely naked when it was returned online. In another instance, reported on a Reddit thread about this fiasco, one-user reports seeing a couple engaging in live sex on Twitch, which is a gaming orientated channel online.
“A few minutes ago there was a guy having sex with his partner on the couch. Why didn’t they see this coming? Beats me.”
Twitch isn’t just taking this lying down, with all the accounts of transgressors such as these being banned as soon as they are picked up by the admins, but as you can see it often comes too late. Twitch has stated that they are currently looking into more effective ways to police this.
As Twitch continues to attract new broadcasters, we want to keep our terms of service top of mind and reiterate we are a destination for video game-related content. We also have a team, supported by a predominantly positive minded community, that works around the clock to ensure our TOS is being adhered to. It is at the discretion of our partners to determine which Twitch features are integrated into their hardware and software.
The Xbox 360 had a similar situation on their hands when UNO offered live camera support to players, leading to a slew of Strip UNO games online. It’s amazing Sony didn’t think of something like this, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they begin limiting the use of Playroom in order to calm the masses.
Because hell, you can never really bet on humanity it seems.
