Halo 4 Principal Engine Architect Confirms She Is Coding For PS4
Have you ever heard of Corrinne Yu? To be honest, I did not before this as I’m no big Halo fan. But if you aren’t aware, she is firstly a coding extraordinaire, and secondly she was the principal engine architect behind Halo 4, one of the Xbox 360’s most visually impressive games.
Yu is quite the gaming programmer, having done some amazing things on the Halo team by creating new lighting techniques and actually inventing new dynamic radiosity algorithms.

But there’s more. I know the word “genius” is overused today, but she really is incredibly intelligent. Just a visit to her Wikipedia page will reveal some mighty impressive awards and accolades she’s won, as well as some damn impressive things she’s been involved in, including having programmed on the Space Shuttle program at Rockwell International California and earning a national award from the U.S. Department of Energy for her nuclear physics research. She keeps getting hotter doesn’t she?
The reason this is all required knowledge will become clear momentarily.
Firstly, Yu recently took to Twitter to reveal her excitement about the PlayStation 4 and, more so, her work on it as a “pedal to the metal” coder.
Her tweet read: “PS4 graphics programming does not sit on top of heavy layers of WinOS or GPU drivers I’m excite about as pedal to metal coder.”
Take a guess who she is allegedly working with? Wait for it. Ready? It’s apparently Naughty Dog.
Another user responded to her saying, “I cant wait to see what you will produce with @Naughty_Dog on PS4 whis is such a leap fowrad. So much exitement! Coding to metal!”
Now it’s time to play conspiracy theorist.
User “DigitalRaptor” pointed out in the comments section of N4G that it is potentially relevant that Yu programmed at the Space Shuttle program at Rockwell International California, as mentioned above, because recently Naughty Dog went to visit SpaceX and are presently rumoured to be working on a space game. I can confirm that this rumour about Naughty Dog exists as I read about it a while ago. DigitalRaptor points out that “this can’t be any coincidence.”
If this is true, then Naughty Dog and Sony have just acquired one of 343 Industry’s best assets, and a brilliant mind for gaming programming. Speculation has arisen that with her being an engine programmer, her work on PS4 will stretch past a single game from Naughty Dog, as it may be shared with Sony’s secret ICE team and with its first party studios.
It’s bordering on insanity how much talent Naughty Dog has in its studio now. Prepare yourselves. Whatever game she is working on will look better than real life.
