A Good (But Boring) Look At Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Don’t get too excited. What we have here, for you viewing pleasure, isn’t really from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but rather from that little, rip off of a prequel called Ground Zeroes. Yes, it’s still a rip off, deal with it.
The gameplay above showcases some of what you can expect from the single mission featured in the prequel/demo, and it looks rather boring to me. I’m pretty sure the video is intended to show off different approaches and some of the new mechanics in play, but honestly his isn’t a great way to get people excited or convinced about a demo that essentially costs the same as some full retail PC titles.

Of course, Hideo Kojima was on hand to comment about the prequel, and how it will be integral to the Ground Zeroes experience.
“Maybe you could think of a standard Hollywood movie where you have 15-20 minutes then the title, and then the main story starts. So all of the events leading to [Phantom Pain] will be happening through the game. You can think of Ground Zeroes as this.”1P
“Ground Zeroes, as far as gameplay goes, will have the player get used to all these different elements, these different actions that we will have within this open world. So people can get used to it… as far as Ground Zeroes goes, there’s one big mission that leads into the events of the main game, so you can see it somewhat as the tanker mission.”
I’m still extremely angered by the price of this introduction to The Phantom Pain, and this little gameplay tease doesn’t really put my mind to ease. Sure, it looks pretty expansive and quiet pretty, but it’s still only one level. For $30.
I’m not that insane today.
