We’ve Brought Mega Man Back After Capcom Killed Him
We did it everybody! We brought back that little blue man with the massive gun for an arm from the hells of development over at Capcom. We’ve been fed rip-offs, spin-offs and even MMO’s by the executives over at Capcom for far too long, but now we’re finally going to get the Mega Man game we deserve. Well, so long as you’re ok with not calling it Mega Man.
Mighty No. 9, a game being developed by the original Mega Man game developer, has reached it’s target on Kickstarter, meaning that we’ve funded the development of a truly Mega Man styled title. Capcom might still own the name, but fans are definitely not going to matter when Mighty No. 9 delivers the same style of gameplay they’ve been craving for all these years.

The project initially asked for a meek $900 000, only to close with about $4 million sourced by fans around the globe. Not only does that make this one of the biggest crowd-sourced game ever, it nearly makes it one of the biggest crowd-sourced things ever. See what the power of the fan can do?
Due to the overwhelming support, director Keiji Inafune was proud to announce that Mighty No. 9 will arrive on Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, Wii U and Nintendo DS when it releases in the near future. They must have received a lot more money than they hoped for, because that’s a massive scope for just one title.
But it just goes to show you how bad of a job Capcom has been doing with the Mega Man name, with the first opportunity to get a proper sequel being taken up by fans almost immediately.
Someone’s going to get fired at Capcom today for sure.
