Watch Dogs Is Going To Look Best On…The Wii U?

There’s a lot to be said about Nintendo lately. Actually, that’s a lie, because there really isn’t much good to be said about the once go to company for gaming, considering some of their business decisions and console releases over the past few year. It’s harder to find someone that owns their new console, the Wii U, than it is to find someone who overlooked it, but it seems like those looking for the ultimate Watch Dogs console experience would then be missing out.
Well, in terms of current-gen that it.

Ubisoft creative director Jonathan Morin revealed in a recent interview that their new IP, Watch Dogs, would look best on the Wii U in terms of current-gen hardware. Morin even went on to call the Wii U a console that lies somewhere between current and next generation hardware.
“I would say the Wii U version is pretty much in between what the current gen is and what the next gen is from a version standpoint.”
“It’s hard to position it. I would tend to say it’s maybe a bit closer to current gen than next gen for certain things but it’s a beautiful game on Wii U and it’s cool to play it just on the GamePad.”
Although there won’t be any exclusive features on the Wii U version of the game, Morin did say that those playing it on the Nintendo console will be able to make use of some features running on the Wii U gamepad. In fact, Morin confirmed that Watch Dogs has been optimized for “the beast that is the Wii U GamePad.” Yes, he said Beast.
No here’s what I don’t understand: if the Wii U is as powerful as Ubisoft is claiming, why is this the first time that we’ve heard about a game being better on the Nintendo console. It’s been well over a year since release, so why all of a sudden does one developer jump up and down shouting “hey, this console is actually pretty fucking cool”.
Something really doesn’t smell right here, wouldn’t you agree?
