Need For Speed Takes Gymkhana For A Spin
You might be familiar with Ken Block’s ability to turn cars into rollercoaster rides complete with a washing machine spin-cycle and if not, there’s a video to get you educated in what he’s all about. An X-Games medalist, Rally America Championships driver and relatively cool guy, Block formerly worked with Codemasters on some of the DiRT games. Perhaps the stand out one was DiRT 3 which was an absolute blast and thansk in no small part to the Gymkhana aspect.
What’s Gymkhana? Well it’s sort of like really high-speed and well-choreographed ballet but in a car.

Now EA has recruited Block to bring some of his expertise to the world of Need for Speed. In fact, Block has been lending a hand in Need for Speed: Rivals by taking on the role of racing advisor, providing personal and professional insights into real life competitive racing.
“Partnering with EA and Need for Speed is a natural fit for our team,” he said.
“I feel like we both have the same goal in mind: to let people live out a fantasy of really pushing the limits of what you can do in the driver’s seat.”
Need for Speed: Rivals is set to release next month with next-gen versions around the same time. With the incredible visuals and now with the expertise of a driver like Ken Block guiding the game, Rivals does certainly look like a compelling package.
