You Might Want To Wait For The Next-Gen Versions Of Assassin’s Creed IV
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag released yesterday on all major consoles, aside from upcoming next-gen hardware and, as always, PC. The game looks and plays really well, and is a vast improvement already over the performance choking Assassin’s Creed III, or at least that’s what I gathered after giving it a god for an hour or two last night. So if you’re planning to, or already have, purchased a current-gen copy, then you have nothing to worry about. But if you’re weeks away from a next-gen purchase, I’m telling you to wait.
Or rather, someone else is. You see, we don’t have the privilege of actually getting to review Assassin’s Creed IV on the PS4 yet, but a lot of other international media have. So it’s a good thing they’ve made this rather great comparison videos, showing us just how much we’d be missing out on if we took the plunge now.

Above is probably the best video of the lot, which surprising compares PS4 footage with Xbox 360 footage at specific periods of the game. The reason for this is because there is still an embargo on the Xbox One review of the game, despite the PS4 embargo ending already. Like I said, weird.
But the video does a good job of showing how much more detailed the game is on next-gen consoles, as well as some of the ways Ubisoft has cleverly dealt with the technical constraints on current-gen consoles. Personally, I’d wait just for those small details, foliage and weather enhancements, but if you’re absolutely dying to play now then it’s definitely not the worst choice you can make in your lifetime.
It’s just, you know, not the right one.
