Metal Gear Solid Actor Trying His Hand At Survival Horror
It was a bit unpleasant earlier this year when Hideo Kojima announced that ling running Metal Gear Solid voice actor, David Hayter, would not be returning for Metal Gear Solid V, replaced by Mr 24. The unpleasantness came when Hayter himself said it was news to him, and one can only imagine how odd it must feel to be suddenly ripped away from the game you’ve become famous with. But life goes on, and so does Hayter’s career apparently.
Hayter has joined the star studded cast of The Long Dark, a new survival-horror Kickstarter game that recently just reached its target days before the deadline. The cast also comprises of Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale, who voiced male and female Shepard in Mass Effect respectively, as well as Elias “I didn’t ask for this” Toufexis, the man behind Adam Jensen in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. So not a bad cast for a game that just managed to meet it’s near quarter of a million dollar Kickstarter goal.

The game itself will thrust players into a hostile environment when the main character’s plane crashes in the wilderness. Players will have to balance main character William Mackenzie’s supply levels, including food, shelter and warmth, as well as defend themselves from the dangers of the wilderness. The first gameplay reveal for the title makes me a little more than interested in the ideas and direction this title will go, and it seems like most of this crowd-sourced funding will go towards the star voice actors jumping aboard.
It’s unclear what roles each will be playing, but for now I’d advise keeping an eye on this one. It could turn into something incredible really quickly.
