A Full 17 Minutes Of (Boring) Arkham Origins Gameplay
I don’t understand this. Your game is only days away from release, and so you decide it’s a good idea to release a massive gameplay video with slow-paced action and two of the most annoying voices in the company? I’m not sure if that was the exact plan over at Warner Bros. With their latest Batman: Arkham Origins gameplay video, but that certainly is the end result.
In the video above, you get to see a younger Batman do what he does best, and it seems all is good in the land of the Bat. Thing is, the video takes a turn for the boring, and sometimes ugly (god Alfred, what have they done to you?), even though you get to see the pretty awesome Batcave for the first time. Other than that, there’s a few convoluted menus to look at and two of the most annoying voices to sit through as well, so this really isn’t a showcase to convince those still on the fence about this prequel.

It does, however, remind us of a dynamic that I actually completely overlooked. Batman isn’t friends with the Gotham City Police Department yet, and so the Dark Knight is forced to go toe to toe with Gotham’s finest in addition to regular Black Mask thugs. Although it just looks like Batman is dealing out the same amount of fist justice to both groups, it is interesting that the game differentiates between the two and reminds you that these are public servants doing their job. A nice little touch of realism to the entire thing if you ask me.
Batman: Arkham Origins is out this Friday, unless you’re a PC gamer. In that case you’ll have to wait another week. Sad face.
