DICE Has Over A Dozen Frostbite 3 Games In Development
If you managed to get your hands on Need for Speed: Rivals at rAge a few weeks back or have been watching the gameplay trailers then you’ll concur on just how breathtakingly stunning the game looks. That’s in no small part due to the Frostbite 3 engine behind the game doing all the heavy graphical lifting.
It is definitely one of the most versatile engines around and should ease us quite nicely into next-gen. Just look at the variety of games currently being built on Frostbite 3 to see that diversity – Battlefield 4, Mirror’s Edge, Need for Speed: Rivals, Dragon Age : Inquisition, Star Wars: Battlefront and the rumoured next entry in the Mass Effect series.

According to technical director of DICE’s Frostbite team, Johan Andersson, there are around 15 games currently in development using Frostbite 3. That means we’ve got possibly 10 new gorgeous games to look forward to.
That probably includes next year’s entry into the NFS franchise, whatever Criterion’s scaled-back team in working on and who knows what else. Based on the franchises EA has under its publishing umbrella and its associated studios, we could see a new Dead Space, Star Wars titles or something else running Frostbite 3.
What game do you hope is currently in development and using the engine?
