Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Extinction Mode Is Real, And It Looks Pretty Awesome
Yesterday we had a rumour swimming about that suggested Activision were preparing to announce and new co-operative mode that would ship with Call of Duty: Ghosts next week. Well, it’s true, and Extinction looks to trade the zombies for aliens, albeit with a few new tricks up the sleeve as well.
You don’t get much from the announcement trailer above, but Extinction will be a little more than your standard zombie defence. What Extinction plans to achieve is a blend between some Real-Time strategy elements, FPS base defence and resource scavenging. The thing this reminds of most at this time is a similar mode in Gears of War, were kills allow you to purchase new base defence that you will need for the next wave of enemies.

Obviously, I’m not entirely sure that’s exactly how it will work, but the beauty of it is that we really don’t have to wait long to find out. Had you asked me over the weekend, I would’ve said that Ghosts didn’t have a co-operative multiplayer component, and that changed in the space of 48 hours. Literally.
Ghosts is looking like it will pack a lot of content, and those that love Treyarch’s zombie modes are sure to feel right at home with Extinction. Check out the trailer above and give us your thoughts in the comments below, even if it’s just to talk about how cool the Ghosts’ logo looks with a pair of news eyes.
