Vin Diesel Claims Riddick 3 Is In Development
Vin Diesel, the star of the Riddick movies and face of the character, has confirmed that Riddick 3 is in development.
Vin Diesel, speaking in an interview with Screen Crush, stated that he has reassembled team members who worked on the classic Escape From Butcher Bay, which was awesome, to create Riddick 3.

“My die-hard gamers want Taigon [Diesel’s game production company] to deliver the third chapter in the Riddick game and we just over the past couple of months, just this year, reassembled that team from Starbreeze that brought Escape From Butcher Bay to create the third game,” he said.
Vin Diesel would not go into detail regarding what type of game Riddick 3 will be, but in a previous IGN interview back in July the man did speak about a potential Riddick MMO he was hoping would take off.
“There’s this huge concept which is more of a MMO game that would be centered around people being able to play mercs and it’s basically the merc trade,” he told IGN. “There’s a very cool game concept behind that.”
Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay was highly praised by critics when it was released in 2004, and was considered a major exception to the usual mediocrity or cash-in crap when it came to tie-ins. It was a pretty big success, and Swedish studio Starbreeze went on to release a current-gen sequel Assault on Dark Athena in 2009, which was also positively received.
Personally, I’d be happy to see Riddick 3 come to light, because the original Escape From Butcher Bay was an awesome experience that blended stealth, action and RPG elements together really well, especially for a game of 2004.
