Valve Is Set To Announce Something Massive Today
Do you know why I say that the rather exciting announcement Valve is set to give today is massive? Well think about it, when was the last time Valve announced anything in this manner? Yeah, I thought so. So put on your excited underpants and socks, because Gabe has something to show us at 7pm this evening.
A teaser website that launched last week has been counting down the whole weekend, with the timer set to end at 7pm this evening. Last week a rumour swirled around that Valve would be announcing their entry into the console market with the Steam Box, after company president Gabe Newell hinted at the reveal. Newell also stated tat Linux was the future platform of gaming, and that Valve would be pushing this as their primary platform of choice.

A small blurb on the teaser site should get you salivating.
“Last year, we shipped a software feature called Big Picture, a user-interface tailored for televisions and gamepad. This year we’ve been working on even more ways to connect the dots for customers who want Steam in the living-room.”
“Soon, we’ll be adding you to our design process, so that you can help us shape the future of Steam.”
No what could possibly be more exciting than an announcement from Valve? Well, how about three announcements? Today’s reveal will only be the first of three from the development house, but it is unclear whether all three will relate to the same thing. Knowing Valve, they’re going to leave us waiting as long as possible.
I’m quite convinced that all of this is for the highly anticipated Steam Box, but I would love Valve to come out guns blazing and announce something that no one was expecting at the time. Half Life 3, launching exclusively on the Linux Steam Box?
Now that would be something.
