PS4 Delayed In SA But You Can Still Get It For Jesus’ Birthday [Update]
I bet you had it all planned out to perfection. You’d finish final examinations, pick up a PS4 and sail away into the sunset with him/her. Alternatively, you’d shave off that ridiculous Movember ‘stache and pick up a PS4 on December 6. Sorry to burst your bubble but that dream is dead.
A Ster Kinekor representative confirmed that Sony’s next generation console will be delayed but would not specify a definitive new release date. However, the rep did say that they are working hard to bring the console to SA before Christmas. Fortunately, there are no associated price hikes. The retail price will remain fixed at R6299.00 unless the exchange rate plummets faster than an Xbox One at terminal velocity.

The delay will affect all local retailers that will procure their PS4 consoles through Ster Kinekor however, BT Games seems to be playing by its own rules. As usual.
The retailer has set its PS4 launch date for December 13 with a midnight launch taking place the night before. BT Games confirmed that these dates are correct and urged customers to come early, around 9PM to be exact. Bring your own drinks.
With any luck, some of the more hardcore members of the eGamer team may be able to interrogate an answer out of a Ster Kinekor rep at rAge regarding the other retailers across South Africa.
Ster Kinekor has confirmed that the PS4 will be available locally from 13 December.
