Metal Gear Solid V “Erotic” Character Revision Is Disgusting
It’s amazing how much you miss when you not constantly connected to the Internet for just one week. While I was away last week in Germany, the Xbox One release date was announced, more GTA V news surfaced and one particular Metal Gear Solid character received a clothing reduction by series creator Hideo Kojima, something that seems to have pissed off a lot of people.
One such person is David Ellis, designer at Halo development house 343 Industries. After reading Kojima’s conflicting tweets about creating a more “erotic” and “sexy” character in order to ensure more figurine sales, Ellis took to Twitter himself to express his disappointment and disgust at the move.

“Our industry should know better than this…Industry full of man babies.”
Ellis’ comments are in direct response to the revelation that Kojima encouraged art director Yoji Shinkawa to make characters appear more “erotic”, a word that was later replaced by “sexy”. The character that has already seen a makeover is female sniper Quiet, who will play a prominent role in the upcoming sequel.
And looking at the new design below, it’s not hard to see why this has caused such uproar.
I agree with Ellis, this industry still has a lot of prominent designers that need to grow up. Seriously people, why is this still an issue?
