Look Out For A Ton Of Locally Developed Games At rAge
Last night, I probably made one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. For a single night, I decided to stick a massive middle finger in the face of my Engineering degree and attend the monthly MakeGamesSA community meeting at Microsoft HQ in Johannesburg. I hadn’t been for months, and I’m pretty glad that I decided to finally return.
Besides getting to chat with a lot of other local game developers, who are still high from the awesomeness that was the A MAZE festival last week in Johannesburg, I also found out that MakeGamesSA would have a more prominent presence at this year’s rAge. More specifically, there will be a stand at the Dome with PC’s loading with locally developed goodness for you to enjoy.

Not only will you get to play titles that are currently still in development and 100% homegrown, you’ll also have the chance to engage with some of the developers working on the games on show. The indie game scene is exponentially growing locally, and it’s about time the rest of the country took notice of the awesome work being done by these incredibly passionate people.
Not only that, but if you’re at all interested in Game Design and actually making games, this is an awesome group to join and interact with. In fact, if you haven’t yet done so, head over to the official page and sign-up. The forums are filled with similar individuals sharing game ideas, fully built games and more.
If you’re heading to rAge at all this year (which you really should be), be sure to take a break from the international AAA goodness and open your eyes to what is happening directly under your nose. I promise you’ll be blown away by most of the stuff that will be on show.
