GTA Absolutely Murdered Day One Sales
There were a handful of naysayers who touted the imminent arrival of next-gen as a potential contributor to sales for GTA V being lower than expected but they’ve certainly been proven wrong and as you might expect, Grand theft Auto V raked in the revenue for Rockstar on Tuesday. The game has smashed records with approximately $800 million in sales within the first 24 hours after release. Damn.
The record was previously held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 although that game only brought in a measly $500 million on day one. The game hit $1 billion after two weeks but expect GTA V to reach that in no time at all.

Comparatively, GTA IV released in 2008 with day one sales totaling $310 million.
Since then the industry has grown, the userbase for consoles has grown and though it might not be the best game of this console generation, it is certainly a great send-off.
