Forza 5 Trailer Provides Some On-The-Track Entertainment
It’s not a trailer for Forza 5 but rather a video showcasing a cool little concept that the team at Turn 10 and the folks at McLaren collaborated on to produce the world’s fastest zoetrope.
What’s a zoetrope? It’s that spinny thing that makes pictures move. I’m aware that I sound like an illiterate hick, let’s start again. Zoetropes are circular devices with pictures on the inside and slits on the outside. Spinning the device causes the pictures to rotate and by looking through a slit the motion gives the illusion of a motion. It’s a nifty way of producing animations.

Microsoft and McLaren Automotive took the concept of a zoetrope, applied it to a racetrack, and the results are astounding. You can check out the video below where 680 of frames of animation were placed on the outside of a race track while a McLaren 12C vehicle with camera equipment attached drove by the images at about 120 miles per hour. The result is sort of mind-blowing.
