XCOM: Enemy Within Could Be The Expansion We’ve Been Waiting For
It’s no secret that XCOM: Enemy Unknown was one of my favourite titles of last year, and an easy contender for Game of the Year. In fact, various other websites bestowed that honour on the Firaxis developed title, which blended some new elements with the old-school style of traditional XCOM, producing a rather brilliant strategy title.
And according to a new listing that has been discovered South Korea’s Game Rating Board website, we could be getting more soon. Not too long ago Firaxis teased more content for enemy Unknown, with a short video introducing you to The Council once more, informing you of a new threat to earth. Since then we’ve heard nothing, but this new listing, which references Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, could be the very expansion we’ve been waiting for.

- Hell Is 30 000 Deathclaws Tearing Through Boston And It’s Glorious | 2 months ago

The listing refers to a title named XCOM: Enemy Within, which doesn’t outright scream “sequel”. In fact, I’d be very surprised if this ends up being a sequel, considering it’s been less than a year since the release of Enemy Unknown. What I’m hoping it will be (and mostly likely what it is) is in fact an expansion for enemy Unknown, possibly introducing a new alien threat for you to fend off with all new weaponry.
This would fit in with a strategy employed by publishers 2K recently, with titles such as Borderlands 2, BioShock: Infinite and more all receiving post-launch DLC within a few months.
So, could we hear about this expansion at Gamescom? Probably.
