The Xbox One Could Launch A Week Before The PS4
No, this does not mean we’re getting the Xbox One locally this year. However, the thirteen countries who will receive Microsoft’s console on launch might get it ahead of the PS4 according to a leaked email from retail giant Walmart.
The email comes from a source working with a company that does signage and product placement for Walmart, with this individual passing along the information to Kotuku. The email comes from a conference call that was recently held by the retailer, listing all the midnight launches the company has planned for the month of November. And of course, the Xbox One is on that list, with a launch date of November 8th.

That would put the Xbox One a week ahead of the PS4’s release date in the same region, which is set for November 15th. We all know how much of a difference this makes to the “uninformed consumer” that will simply buy what’s out first, so it could be a good move on Microsoft’s part. Those who fall under the “informed” demographic have surely made their choice of console by now, so a week earlier release date probably won’t get them to change their mind over the PS4 or Xbox One.
One detail to note is the fact that although the Xbox One listing has a date attached, it lacks the “confirmed” approval on the side, which is present for every other listing. That would mean that Walmart is operating on a window provided to them by Microsoft, with a confirmed date coming soon. Or so we hope.
Either way, it would definitely make sens for Microsoft to at least launch earlier in the regions it has promised to launch in, considering the massive advantage Sony has in terms of launch regions. Only two or so months to go.
