Star Wars Battlefront Isn’t Coming For A Long, Long Time
Thankfully, it’s not in a galaxy far, far away. Too much?
The announcement of Star Wars Battlefront, being developed by the multiplayer experts over at DICE, was one of the best surprise announcements at this year’s E3. Sadly though, we may have to wait much longer than previously expected for its release, with EA hinting at a mid-year 2015 release window. Now, you didn’t read that wrong.

During an earnings call between EA and its shareholders yesterday, acting CEO and CFO Blake Jorgensen said Battlefront will “most likely come out around the same time that the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of ’15.”
This date coincides with the release windows for Star Wars VII, which was confirmed at CinemaCon earlier this year.
And while I’m perfectly fine with waiting for a Star Wars film that I actually don’t want, I’m not too happy with having to wait just under two years for Star Wars Battlefront. With that type of development time, DICE better have some extraordinary ideas up their sleeves; otherwise fans are quickly going to lose interest.
Also, take a hint about “long development times” with “resurrected franchises” from Gearbox, Dice. Seriously, please don’t screw this up, you have the whole star wars gaming community on edge already.
