Sony Could Be Planning To Release An Incredibly Cheap PS4/Vita Bundle
By now you’ve probably heard me bitch and complain about my purchase of a PlayStation Vita over a year ago, and how I absolutely loath myself for taking the plunge so early. Unlike many people, however, I have yet to sell my handheld in the hopes that the PS4 will deliver on the remote-play promises that the PS3 ignored. I might be holding out for an empty promise, but if a recent rumour is to be believed then Sony is really gunning for every PS4 owner to have a Vita as well.
According to “a well-placed, anonymous source”, Sony is busy preparing a new bundle for the PS4 that will include their struggling handheld for a ridiculously low price. How low? Well, the PS4 is retailing for $399, and according to this source a new bundle that will include the Vita should retail for just $100 more, sitting at around $499. Considering the PS Vita currently retails in the USA for $250, that’s a massive price drop.

Not only that, but that price matches what Microsoft is charging for their Xbox One and Kinect, which is sure to entice even more people to go the PlayStation route. What I don’t understand is how that is financially possible for Sony, as the company has already posted a massive loss attributed to production costs of the PS4. I don’t think a company in that much financial trouble can now afford to go and give out a struggling product like candy and hope for the best? But hell, who am I to give Sony financial advice, right?
As it stands, it’s a pretty big rumour so treat it as such. But should it turn out to be true, will you fork a bit more money for Sony’s struggling handheld? Could the PS4 era help the Vita tag along?
