Which Event In Gaming History Would You Change?
Gaming has had a long and illustrious history that stretches all the way back to… whenever it is that Pong and it’s ilk released. I’m aware that there were video games before that but they weren’t really accessible to the public as far as I know. Over those few decades a lot has happened. In fact the gaming industry has grown so at such a breakneck pace that it’s big hitters are comparable to Hollywood studios movie companies.
There have been some great leaps forward in that time but also more than a few hideous missteps. We’ve seen gaming grow from a niche pastime for kids and weirdos to a billion dollar industry that appeals to the mainstream and still weirdos.

There have been brilliant, life-altering games in that time and there have been games we wish would burn along with the respective people who created said abominations.
What my long-winded and overly long convolution is getting at is that a lot of shit has gone down and as a gamer you might prefer that some of it never happened.
Over the course of this weekend I watched the Back to The Future trilogy because it was there in my downloads folder and it helped me get through the tedium and rigmarole of homework tutorials and assignments. Not surprisingly, it got me thinking about the butterfly effect and just how much you could change the course of history with one small action. Imagine if I’d convinced an incarcerated man named Nelson that nothing is solved with diplomacy and that violence beget progress.
Then again, just how much of a ripple effect will your actions have before events start repeating themselves and the cyclic nature of history starts ticking away again?
Personally, I can’t really think of anything I’d want to change. Possibly because at this moment in time only select sectors of my brain are functioning and memory is not one of them.
So, which event in gaming history would you change and why?
