We Could Finally Be Getting A Sequel To Bully

It seems to be that time of year again, where publishers look at the millions of trademarks they already own and think, “What else do we need?” Rockstar parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has done just that, and in the process filed a trademark for a franchise that is in dire need for a sequel.
Despite having three separate trademarks already, Take-Two has filed for yet another Bully trademark, this time filing it under “computer and video game programs and software.” The very first trademark filed for the franchise was identical, with two others originating after the game’s release, relating to merchandise and such.

All the way back in November 2011, Rockstar Games cofounder Dan Houser explained that Bully didn’t immediately get a sequel because the team behind the game went straight to work on Max Payne 3, which launched to mixed reviews last year.
“So we knew that we didn’t want to start doing the Bully sequel instantly at that second with those guys–even though it is a property that, like [Max Payne], we adore and might come back to in the future. There was just no impetus to do that then. So we said, ‘You can do Max, and then we will see what we can do with Bully.'”
In addition to a possible Bully sequel, which would be the answer to so many fan prayers, Take-Two also has a number of titles in the pipeline for next-gen, including some new franchises.
“We also have a extraordinary pipeline of titles in development for next-generation platforms, including groundbreaking new intellectual property and releases from our proven franchises.”
Take-Two is scheduled to sit down for an earnings call soon, so we could hear more about a Bully sequel sooner rather than later. Watch this space.
