Kingdom Hearts III Could Get A Splash Of Star Wars
The announcement of Kingdom Hearts III at E3 was easily one of the best and most exciting announcements of the entire show. The highly popular franchise that brings together Final Fantasy and Disney characters is easily on of the best franchises on the Ps2, and it’s sad that we’re only getting a proper sequel to those awesome titles now. One thing that we didn’t think of, however, was the possibility of Star Wars characters being added to the roster. Because, you know, Disney now owns Stars Wars?
It’s something Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura was asked about in a recent interview, as well as at E3 itself. Speaking recently to Finaland, Nomura was hesitant to confirm anything just yet, but stated that it’s a very real possibility.

“We’ve been talking about Star Wars itself since it became Disney’s content recently. When I [heard] the news I was like, ‘wow! Wow!’ Yeah, obviously it’s gonna be great if we could add it, but like I said, there are a lot of restrictions and rules by Disney so we don’t know what’s gonna happen but yeah, we’ll see.”
As you’d expect, it’s all the suits and ties that could see this dream stay just a dream, but Nomura seems to be positive about the fact that they haven’t yet been told it’s impossible by Disney. Speaking at E3 on the same topic, Nomura discussed how transparent Disney are about their decisions, meaning that the option for Star Wars in Kingdom Hearts was still very much on the table.
“Disney’s companies are all very different. Sometimes the answer is ‘absolutely no,’ and sometimes the answer is, ‘…hmm, we don’t know.’ Disney’s pretty honest. If the situation is really difficult, they’ll say, it’s really difficult. If it’s impossible, they’ll say it’s impossible.”
